What is mattering at the moment: The narrative around AI seems to be changing.
The sense of fear and confusion is giving way to Comments like "I've started using AI" and "it is really helpful, it saves me a lot of time." This never happened when we started to use computers, electronic whiteboards or iPads. Using SPEECH to TEXT has been amazing. The options for NLRAI I mentioned last newsletter are being used in classrooms right now.
Even the Nobel prizes have been dominated by AI this year. Hinton and Hopfield, and now Hassabis.
AI is here, it's staying and it will play a HUGE part in our FUTURE.
CARNIVORE for KIDs Just image if we could solve a lot of the behaviour problems with kids just by changing their diet. Research is showing we can! What do you think? I took a lot of convincing but it has been incredible.
AI & Education. Use the Videos directly in your class, and learn along with your students.

Is Speaking the Super Power of the Future?
WHAT do you think?This basic form of communication is hard wired into human cognition, and it developed long before writing & reading systems emerged.
No videos were around then, but I still caught them Chatting

MY EXPERIENCE: I was working with a group of kindergarteners the other day and
using speech to text options in Book Creator.
The delight when they were able to speak THEIR IDEAS and then see
THEIR IDEAS written right before their eyes was palpable.
Of course, some words were wrong,
some of the kids picked this up immediately,
“that isn’t how it’s spelt”,
“that isn’t the right word”.
So, what could we do. A chorus of “speak louder”, “speak slower”
I chimed in with: “speak clearly and say the ends of the words”.
NO tedious typing, NO spelling problems,
just speaking and straight to text with their words.
They were entranced. The kids could get their ideas written down immediately. |
Affinity is Now Free to Download to anyone with a verified Canva for Education account. Affinity App includes 3 options - Photo, Designer and Publisher, it is a great FREE replacement for the Adobe Photoshop et al. I use it and love it!

ARE we the LOBSTERS in the POT?
The metaphor "boiling a lobster" (or "boiling lobsters") comes from the observation that a lobster placed in a pot of cool water will not immediately react to the increasing temperature if it's gradually brought to a boil.
By the time the lobster realises the danger, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞, leading to its demise.
This metaphor is often used to describe situations in which people fail to notice gradual,
changes until it’s too late. It speaks to complacency and the failure to react to slow but steady threats, similar to how a lobster won't leap from gradually warming water, unlike the commonly used metaphor of a frog which will leap out of warming water. Are you a FROG, ready to make the LEAP into AI or a LOBSTER?
LOBSTERS in Education:
L - Lack of modern teaching strategies
O - Overreliance on traditional methods
B - Burdened by bureaucratic practices
S - Sticking to outdated learning frameworks
T - Timid about embracing emerging technologies
E - Erosion of student enthusiasm and creativity
R - Resistance to adaptive learning models
S - Slow to innovate and prepare students for future challenges
