NEVER TEACH CHiLDREN READING

by CATHY BROWN No:257 05 09 2022
Hello Everyone,
I hope you're having a great day today!
High Horse
I loved writing the article on "Never Teach Reading" - I have thought about this one for some time and watched as more and more kiddos become reluctant readers - so here is my take on it. What do you think????
00H! AHHH! LOOK AT THIS
Music you can see. So wonderful for all kiddos. Creatability is a set of experiments from Google that are fabulous.
Have a great week, whatever you're getting up to.

NEVER TEACH READING

YOU SHOULD NEVER TEACH CHILDREN TO READ
UNLESS
YOU FIRST teach them to love reading.
It seems the argument about how to teach reading, has been hijacked by 2 main options, the phonics or whole word approaches.
WHERE’s the LOVE?? I mean really, WHERE IS THE LOVE?
The arguments are about techniques not interest, enthusiasm, curiosity and, WELL, LOVE OF READING, LEARNING AND WORDS.
AND SECOND teach them critical thinking and logic.

By teaching them all to read without critical thinking and logic, we leave kids at the mercy of
TWITTER, FACEBOOK and identification of the alphabet required to send TEXT MESSAGES.

READING CAN BE THE DEVIL’S WORK
and delivers the heinous crimes of online cyberbullying, pranking rumour mongering, hacking and teenage suicide.

RESEARCH
suggests that explicit instruction in critical thinking makes kids smarter, more independent, and more creative.
And I think more able to cope with the digital demons of the future.

SEEINGMUSIC

Creatability is a set of experiments made in collaboration with creators and allies in the accessibility community. They explore how creative tools – drawing, music, and more – can be made more accessible using web and AI technology.
SEEING MUSIC is a knock out - Say different words at different volumes and watch the patterns, change up from spectograph to Hilbert + Melodya to waveforms.
I love BODY SYNTH - moving your body makes the sounds. Change keys and instruments. Best on Firefox.
Of course, one of my all time favourites is WORD SYNTH A fun way to play with speech and music.

AUTODRAW

AUTODRAW is a Google Creative Experiment. Simple and easy to use. Browser Based and FREEEE Fast drawing for everyone.

Itemploys machine learning or artificial intelligence to transform rough, horrible sketches, scribbles, and doodles into innovative, conventionalicons. It doesn't require anything to download.

HISTORY

WHO INVENTED THE INTERNET?
No one person invented the internet. When networking technology was first developed, a number of scientists and engineers brought their research together to create the ARPANET. Later, other inventors’ creations paved the way for the web as we know it today. More links on VT
