Shots of awe, are philosophical espresso shots condensed trailers of ideas what they hint at the exception go through the AHA moments. The transcend the "been theres and done thats" of the adult mind. Being FLOW allows you to be in wonderment.

In FLOW you have unbelievable lucidity, instant recall and the ability to explain effortlessly. It is hugely important to build the foundations for something magical to happen. Like chopping the wood to build the fire, I would say that it's everything.

There are lots of Advent Calendars online - youcan open the days from the 1st of December - I liked this Advent Calendar - a great idea for the christmas countdown.

Also the Advent Calendar from NRich is a fabulous way to do some creative maths thinking.

Stage: 1 and 2
There are twenty-four activities, one for each day in the run-up to Christmas.
This year, the tasks focus on encouraging mathematical habits of mind: being curious, being thoughtful, being collaborative and being determined.

Stage: 3 and 4
Click on each number to find one of our favourite mathematical questions - a mixture of short and longer tasks. A challenge for each day during the run-up to Christmas. Enjoy!

Hello Cathy,
I wanted to say thank you for the awesome webpage, http://www.virtualteacher.com.au/art.html which I shared with my students. I run a painting and ceramics class at our community center and some of my younger students expressed an interest in learning more about art and playing art games at home. I wanted to let you know they enjoyed visiting your page!

I have a brilliant young artist named Amanda who found another interesting page, http://www.homeadvisor.com/r/art-institute-chicago/ that explores artists featured at the Art Institute of Chicago. If you like it, would you consider adding it to your page? Amanda is one of the youngest students in my class and I think this would be really encouraging for her. If you have any other resource ideas for us, I\'d love to hear them. Thanks again.

Have a great day,
Megan Compton

Hi Megan,
I'm glad your students enjoyed the site. There are also some splendid free Art apps on the site listed on
These are really great and introduce students to different types of art as well as provide opportunities for experimentation and in some cases designing. I have often used these in the classroom as pre and post lesson activities.

Thanks for the link it looks very comprehensive.

Your students and colleagues may also like to subscribe to Virtual Teacher - its FREE and connects to great resources as well as fabulous ideas and resources.

The latest one is the timeline app. My students have been using it for everything. And loving it. Its such a great infographic idea.
For art class I get students to photograph the progress of their artwork and sequence the progression on a timeline. Art over time - its been fun.

Please thank Amanda for the link - which I all use in my next newsletter.

ciao
