Hello EVERYONE,
I recently gave a Keynote Presentation at Ingleburn Public School as part of their "Road to Future Learning" Initiative.
Take a look below at some of their learning ideas for our citizens of the future and do a bit of igniting yourself.
Christmas will be upon us shortly so there are some splendid links below.
Also look at the Stop Motion ideas in the iPad section below. This was fabulous fun and a great learning experience.
Who knew we would combine a class blue tongue lizard with a messy pencil case - amazing creativity.

EDUCATION REVOLUTION

I recently gave a Keynote Presentation at Ingleburn
Public School as part of their "Road to Future Learning" Initiative.
My Presentation entitled "Ignite the Education Revolution" covered 21st
Century Learner Skills, the Learning Process & Astrocytes.(ask me
later)
The Presentation session and the following dinner were a wonderful
success thanks to principal Graeme Green and the support from the
Ingleburn School community. I was so pleased to be a part of this event and to witness a school embracing the learning initiatives. One of the highlights of the evening was the launch of their Video "The Road to Future Learning" A splendid collaborative effort from the staff and students. It covered many aspects of the Ingleburn initiative including: The recognition that space can define how we teach, and the fact that
student centered learning is seriously constrained by traditional
classrooms.
So at Ingleburn they are creating new learning environments that meet the needs of students today and into the future. They are also introducing new learning processes including, project
based learning, open learning spaces, pilot classrooms and genius hour. Ingleburn is actually doing and making real changes to invent the future
of Education.
The journey is simple, explore and invent the future. The Claude Thomas Biddell quote featured in the DVD seems written for Ingleburn “Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is
wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others
think is possible” Congratulation to a school that is actually not just talking about inventing the future of Education, but is doing it. HERE are some images of the learning spaces at Ingleburn.

Stop MOTION Animation
I had a fabulous day with a group of students recently working on Stop Motion Animation Look at Animation basics: Homemade special effects - TED-Ed Then looked at George Melies - The Conjuror 1899 stop frame animation -
the way movies began. And also the Human Skateboard Then answered the TEDED Question online and joined the international discussion on What other do-it-yourself special effects can you think of? Did Imaginairing For a do-it-yourself stop motion effect, to get creative ideas flowing, then students made a plan for a do-it-yourself stop motion effect using a story board. Storyboard pdf The idea - to plan the story using drawn images. Then students used Stop Motion Animation on iPads to produce their do-it-yourself effect. We imported the film into iMovie and added sound effects, music, some of
our own recorded sounds and imported some handmade music form garage
band. Who knew a pencil case and the class pet blue tongue lizard could work in such a clever amazing way.

Hi Cathy,
Wondered if you could help out.
What is the best way to connect my EWB and my iPad?
thanks Maris
Hi Maris,
Apple TV – use a HDMI lead to connect to large screen TV or Whiteboard, then connect using AirPlay on the iPad. Requires access to a wireless network
AirServer - install software that enables you to stream or mirror your iPad on to your Mac or PC www.airserver.com/en
Reflector Install software on your PC which allows the iPad to connect using AirPlay www.airsquirrels.com/reflector/
Splashtop Classroom – app for connecting whiteboard and iPad www.splashtop.com/classroom
VGA Cable – VGA connector lead physically connects iPad to screen via projector or VGA port on the Large Screen TV
